Football has started for Senior Infants!⚽

Image
Gaelic football is officially up and running for our Senior Infants, and we are loving it! Laura, our coach — who just happens to be an Ulster football champion — is teaching us all the tricks of the game. We’ve been learning how to hand pass, kick and solo. We can’t wait to keep practicing every week. Who knows — with Laura coaching us, we might have a few future champions in the class already!πŸ†

Cake/Bric-a-brac sale 🍰

Image
Today was a very special day for our Senior Infants! The Student Council girls hosted a wonderful Cake and Bric-a-Brac Sale, and the excitement in the hall was contagious from the moment the children walked in. The tables were filled with delicious treats and toys. The money raised will go towards new yard equipment for our school, something the children are already looking forward to using!πŸͺπŸͺ€ A huge thank you to our fantastic Student Council girls for organising the event. Well done, girls, and thank you for helping make our school an even better place! 🍰✨

The Adventures of Shay Mouse 🐁

Image
Last week, our Senior Infants had a very exciting adventure of their own as they set off to Cavan Town Hall to watch the wonderful play “The Adventures of Shay Mouse.”   The children were glued to the stage, laughing, gasping, and nudging each other every time something funny happened. And the absolute highlight? Shay Mouse’s country accent. A very special thank you goes to our Junior Infant teacher, Ms. McManus , for organising this lovely trip.  And an extra big thank you to Cavan Town Hall for welcoming our school so warmly and giving the children such a fantastic theatre experience. What a mouse-tacular day!🐭✨

Science Week fun in Senior Infants!πŸ”¬✨

Image
This week in Senior Infants, we became mini scientists for Science Week ! πŸ§ͺ🧫πŸ₯½πŸ‘©‍πŸ”¬πŸ”¬ 🍬 The Skittles Experiment We did the Skittles Rainbow Experiment . We put colourful Skittles around the edge of a plate and added some warm water. Then we watched the magic happen — the colours started to spread and made a beautiful rainbow swirl ! 🌈 🧸 The Gummy Bear Experiment We placed a gummy bear into a cup of water and made predictions about what we thought would happen to it. 🍞 Invisible Germs – The Slice of Bread Experiment We learned about invisible germs and why it’s important to wash our hands properly . We used three slices of bread : πŸ₯ͺ One touched with clean hands , πŸ₯ͺ One touched with dirty hands , and πŸ₯ͺ One that we rubbed on a classroom surface ! We sealed them up in plastic bags and waited to see what would happen.   We had the best time exploring and discovering during Science Week! Science helps us to ask questions, test ideas, and learn new things about the...

Halloween Assembly πŸ‘Έ

Image
Senior Infants were absolutely amazing — we sang, we performed, and we had so much fun showing off everything we’ve been learning. Ms. Sherlock had us so well prepared for our big performance. We sang “Banaha,” a beautiful traditional African song. It was a bit tricky because it’s a chorus song, but we worked really hard and… we nailed it! πŸ‘ We also wowed the crowd with a lovely Irish song πŸ‘» and an Autumn poem. The crowd went wild! Everyone looked spooktacular in their Halloween costumes — there were witches, princessesπŸ‘Έ, superheroes, skeletons, and even a few pumpkins!πŸŽƒ  We had a Halloween parade - it was lots of fun! Well done, Senior Infants — you made us all so proud! πŸ’›πŸ§‘πŸ–€

One Spooktacular Day!πŸ•·️πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

The talented Ms.Hayden kicked things off with a frightfully fun art session. Students created spooky webs and spiders!  In the music room, Ms.Sherlock had everyone playing instruments, singing, clapping, and dancing to spooky tunes. Her magical musical touch turned students into a Halloween choir to remember! Next stop: invention central! Ms. Fitzpatrick, our resident engineering mastermind, turned the classroom into a hub of creativity and construction. She challenged students to build spooky structures and creepy contraptions using LEGO.  From balloon keepy-uppy to hula hoops, Mr.Gurhy brought the energy! St. Clare’s own answer to Joe Wicks had everyone moving, laughing, and loving every minute of his spooky fitness fun. Ms. Tierney wrapped up the day with classic Halloween games from generations past—just like our grandparents once played. We even uncovered our spooky fortunes along the way!πŸ•·️πŸ•Έ️πŸŽƒ                   ...
